Drew Stark

 

Drew Stark is a professional actor, singer, educator, and movement coach/choreographer.

As an actor, he has appeared in A Night in Vegas at Bleecker Street Theatre in New York City, as well as working regionally at The Lost Colony, Playhouse on the Square, Virginia Shakespeare Festival, and the Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival.  Some of his favorite regional musical theatre roles include: Rum Tum Tugger in CATS (Prather Productions), Frederick in Young Frankenstein (Little Theatre on the Square) and Man #1 in My Way: A Tribute to Frank Sinatra (Seaside Repertory Theatre).  He worked as Education Associate at New Stage Theatre in Jackson, Mississippi for two seasons, where he also served as a resident actor/teaching artist and choreographer.  Some of his favorite choreography credits include: Shakespeare in Love, A Christmas Carol, Sister Act, and Bright Star.

Drew recently completed his MFA in Acting at the University of Central Florida.  His MFA thesis examines the application of psychophysical techniques of Konstantin Stanislavski's System, coupled with the use of Michael Chekhov's Psychological Gesture, to prepare for multiple roles as The Elder (Otto) in Paula Vogel's Indecent, a production directed by Dr. Julia Listengarten at the University of Central Florida. He recently completed his teaching residency and performance internship at the Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Orlando, FL.  Most recently, Drew performed in Orlando Shakes! PlayFest 2023 as the Professor in The Facts Are As Follows by Christopher Washington and the Prompter/Swing in Henry VI, Part One: Joan of Arc.

In his spare time, Drew enjoys exploring the intersection of visual art within performance art spaces.  Drew shares a passion for stage combat and is proficient in broadsword, rapier and dagger, quarterstaff, unarmed, and knife.  Drew also enjoys returning to nature, tending to flower gardens, and doting on his orchid/plant babies.  As a community organizer, he has produced musical cabarets to benefit non-profit organizations such as Stewpot Community Services in Jackson, Mississippi, and Covenant House, servicing homeless LGBTQ+ youth in Ft. Myers, Florida.

Drew is a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society, among the top-achieving students at the University of Central Florida. He was recognized by the Mississippi Arts Commission as a member of the Mississippi Artist Roster and awarded a MAC grant for professional development in theatre education.
